CONSULTANCY EXPERIENCE

  • African Development Bank: Co-lead Consultant, 2017 Education Triennale. (2015 – Present).
  • NEPAD Planning Agency (Midrand, South Africa): Commissioned to write the content on South-South Cooperation for the African Development Effectiveness portal.
  • United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and African Union Commission (AUC) – both located in Addis Ababa. Commissioned to contribute one of the two thematic chapters to the ECA Economic Report for Africa, 2011 entitled Governing Development.
  • UNDP Ghana and the Institute for Democracy and Development Report of Ghana Governance (IDEG): Member of the Technical Committee of the 2011 Human Development Report entitled Democratic Political Transition and Human Development.
  • Gauteng Department of Finance and Economic Affairs, South Africa: Sub-contracted by the Mohlaleng Strategy Advisors to work on the Gauteng Provincial Government’s Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Strategy. 2006.
  • International Labour Organisation (ILO), Geneva: Resource person for the ILO on its social dialogue programme. 
  • Gauteng Department of Local Government, South Africa: Lead Consultant for the Department in developing its Strategic Plan. 2004. 
  • African Institute of South Africa (AISA) Pretoria, South Africa: Consulted for the AISA on the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD). Designed capacity building programme on NEPAD. 
  • The Open Society Institute Africa Governance Monitoring and Advocacy Project (AfriMAP): Consultant for its Political Representation project. 2004. 
  • African Regional Labour Administration Centre (ARLAC), Harare, Zimbabwe: Consulted for ARLAC on the Social Dialogue programme in Africa. The project focused among others on, Trends and challenges of Social Dialogue in Africa, Gender and Social Dialogue in Africa, HIV-AIDS and Social Dialogue in Africa and Informal Sector and Social Dialogue in Africa.
  • International Training Centre of the International Labour Organisation (ITCILO), Turin, Italy: Consultant for the ITCILO since 1999. Member of a research team that worked on a project on Multimedia Modular Training Package on its Gender Project and Employment. In 2001, participated in the ILO/ITC Technical Meeting of Experts on the Law and Practice of Social Dialogue in the Civil Service. Turin, Italy. In 2003, the consultant evaluated South Africa’s Employers’ workplace HIV-AIDS programmes. Subsequently, contributed to designing the ITCILO strategic plan for the capacity-building programme for South African Employers. 
  • Human Rights Institute of South Africa (HURISA), Johannesburg:  Consulted for HURISA in designing its strategic plan on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights Education for High School Pupils in South Africa. (2001).
  • National Labour and Economic Development Institute (NALEDI), Johannesburg: Contracted by NALEDI to review of the evolution of Black Economic Empowerment in South Africa.
  • Ntsika Promotion Enterprise Agency, Pretoria: Project Manager and one of the Researchers on Ntsika commissioned research on SMMEs and Marketing in South Africa carried out by the Graduate School of Public and Development Management, Wits University
